Nish-Chintha is an organisation envisaging a ‘worry-free village’ for differently-abled children suffering from impairments like cerebral palsy and autism. The total rehabilitation of the children and their parents is the core of the programme that was launched in 2014.
A village for differently-abled children is being built with voluntary contributions from parents for their life-long care.
The Nish-Chintha mission aims to relieve parents of worries about their differently-abled children. “What after us” is a question that haunts parents of these children, said Venkat Iyer of Nish-Chintha at a press conference here on Thursday. But special children will have life-long care at Nish-Chintha, he added.
The facility is being built on a substantial plot of land at Mulanjoor near Lakkidi in Palakkad district. The idea is to provide space for individual houses as well as apartment dwelling for families. Though initially planned for 50 families, the facilities have been extended to 50 more families, and a few more memberships are open now, Mr. Iyer said.
There will be trainers, caretakers, special school, playground, meditation hall, mess, and farming area for the complete care of the children and their parents. The building for the first phase of the programme, National Centre for Assisted Living and Skill Development, is expected to be completed in 2019.
