NOIDA: There was chaos at ESIC hospital on Friday, when a couple and three hospital employees, including a doctor, allegedly came to blows. Both parties lodged police complaints against each other. However, no FIR was lodged.
The scuffle took place around 2.30 pm after a pregnant woman and her husband went to the hospital to get his foot treated for a sprain.

Lata Singh, a resident of Sector 5, alleged a doctor abused her when she took her husband, Kaushalendra, inside his cabin. “Not only Dr Vijay Rawat tear off my husband’s ESIC registration card, but he also grabbed my throat and then called the security guards who too hit me,” Lata said.

Doctors at the hospital however, claimed that Lata and Kaushalendra had entered Dr Rawat’s cabin jumping the queue.

“The couple entered my cabin even as I was busy examining a female patient in the OPD. When I asked them to sit outside, they started abusing me. When I objected, the man pulled my shirt while the woman attacked me with her chappal. Dr Navneet and a nurse intervened but they too were attacked,” Dr Rawat said.

Dr Rawat denied that he tore off Kaushalendra’s registration card. “It is most valuable card. We know its worth,” he said. A staff nurse has suffered an injury in her right hand and while the doctors suffered bruises.

Police were later called in and both parties went to Sector 24 police station and lodged counter complaints. “A medical examination has been conducted on both the parties and reports are awaited,” SHO Pankaj Pant said.
