D. Shankaran, the founder of Shankar IAS Academy, passed away at his Mylapore residence on Thursday.

Mr. Shankaran committed suicide after hanging from a ceiling fan due to personal reasons at his house in Krishnaswami Avenue, Mylapore, police said.

One of his friends rushed him to Government Royapettah Hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead.

Shankar IAS Academy was started by D. Shankar in 2004 at Anna Nagar to train civil service aspirants. The Academy has centres in Chennai, Bengaluru and other places. It has coached several civil aspirants to accomplish their goals.
