Stock market update: FMCG stocks bullish; ITC jumps nearly 4%

NEW DELHI: Most FMCG stocks were trading with decent gains in Friday's positive market.

The Nifty FMCG index was trading 2.56 per cent up at 28,075 around 12:30 pm.

Shares of Marico (up 4.24 per cent), ITC (up 3.62 per cent), Dabur India (up 3.48 per cent) and Jubilant Foodworks (up 3.13 per cent) were the top gainers in the FMCG pack.

Britannia Industries (up 2.51 per cent), Hindustan Unilever (up 2.32 per cent), Tata Global Beverages (up 1.85 per cent) and Godrej Industries (up 1.13 per cent) were also up with a gain of at least 1 per cent.

Emami (up 0.74 per cent), United Spirits (up 0.72 per cent), GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare (up 0.40 per cent) and Procter & Gamble Hygiene & Healthcare (up 0.33 per cent) also advanced.

However, Godrej Consumer Products (down 1.62 per cent), United Breweries (down 0.42 per cent) and Colgate-Palmolive (India) (down 0.12 per cent) were down at that time.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 213 points at 10,447, while the BSE Sensex was up 690 points at 34,691.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 45 were trading in the green, while 5 were in the red.

Bajaj Finance, Mahindra & Mahindra, Maruti Suzuki India, HPCL and Eicher Motors were among the top gainers in the Nifty index.

Tata Consultancy Services, HCL Technologies, Wipro, NTPC and Dr. Reddy's Laboratories were the losers in the Nifty pack.
