Importance of millets should not be undermined in one’s diet: actor Madhavi Latha

Yashoda Hospitals, Malakpet, has launched a special wellness package on the occasion of World Obesity Day here on Wednesday.

Special Guest and actor Madhavi Latha, narrating her experience in dealing with weight issues said, that she relied on healthy diet and exercise. The importance of millets should not be undermined in one’s diet. It was equally important to reduce negative stress.

Mr. Manishegaran, bariatric surgeon, said, the first option was to tackle weight with diet and exercise. But when the BMI was more than 32, then bariatric surgery was one option to lose weight without any side effects. The surgery could save people from cardiac disorders and diabetes. The obesity package launched by the hospital would be helpful, he said.

Dr. Pavan, Director of Yashoda Hospitals said they launched the special wellness package at a reasonable cost.

Nutritionist Sujatha Stephen said that in Hyderabad about 30 to 35% of people were obese. About 25% were schoolchildren and 31% of women were suffering from obesity, the main reason being improper food habit, genetics, inactive life style. Healthy diet with all the nutrition components and 30 to 35 minutes of exercise would help one shed excess weight.

Dr. Harshila, physiotherapist, said that obesity-induced knee joint pains and back ache could be managed with proper exercise. The package is priced at ₹1,499 including detailed body analysis, review by the dietician and meal advice, consultation with physiotherapist and physician.
