Strict guidelines for Ramlila organisers

CHANDIGARH: The UT senior superintendent of police (SSP) held a meeting with organizers of Ramlila committees of the city and instructed them to strictly follow all the guidelines issued by the administration and police. Area SHOs and other PCR cops have also been directed to ensure security in their areas during these days.

Police have issued 27-point guidelines to the Ramlila organizers. Police directed organizers to adhere to timings of staging the event as per written permission given by administration.

The organizers have also been told to submit a list of 25 volunteers for each Ramlila. These volunteers need to give their photographs for preparation of identity cards that they need to wear at the time of duty.

Organisers have been directed to provide space for parking and ask their volunteers to manage the same. They have also been directed to make special announcement asking people not to carry bags, brief cases and transistors at the Ramlila venues. The police have told the organisers to make proper lighting arrangements, like floodlights, at the venue and its surroundings. In case of power failure, the organizers need to have generators to tackle the situation.

As part of security measures, cops will carry out search of the venues every day before staging of Ramlila. Organisers have been told to assist police in the search.

To tackle any untoward incident at venue, cops would depute two armed sentries at each venue.

Cops have also warned the organisers not to stage anything obscene during the event and not to play any vulgar song at the venue.

Organizers have been directed to installed sufficient number of CCTV cameras at the venues. Cops have warned the organizers that their NOCs can be cancelled any time to maintain law and order.
