All-rounder wants his side to emulate win against England

West Indian all-rounder Roston Chase says it is time for his team to learn from the mistakes of the first Test and move on smartly when it takes on India in the second Test here from Friday.

“We have to learn quickly. Anything is possible against any team — be it the best or the lowest-ranked in the world,” said Chase in a pre-match media briefing.

“It is always nice to have the captain back, as he and Kemar Roach bring back the experience we need badly,” he said.

“When India amassed 600-plus in the first Test, we were obviously tired. No doubt the performance was a bit disappointing on a good pitch, which only turned from the third day onwards,” Chase said.

Similar position

Chase hoped the West Indies, which was in a similar position having lost the first Test in England on its last tour and coming back strongly, would repeat that performance.

“Yes, we did talk about that in the dressing room here. We just needed a punching bag at the start,” he said with a big smile.

“The game is played out there in the middle. Not in the media box or the dressing room or the commentary box. We have to do what is expected of us and we are confident of doing well here,” Chase said.

On whether Windies have a gameplan for the likes of Prithvi Shaw, he said they did discuss about this and do have some plans which could not be discussed in the media briefing.

“Certainly, we have a better idea now about the Indian line-up. We need to swing the ball a bit more and look up in the second Test,” he concluded.
