Surat: Men’s clothing worth Rs2.55 lakh was stolen by some thieves from a godown in Varachha area of the city on Thursday night. The thieves entered the godown on the first floor of a building after breaking its lock.
Ratan Bubtaram Parmar in his police complaint said that he had kept his stock of clothing in his godown located on the first floor of BP Compound next to his shop. The thieves entered the godown between 10.30pm of October 9 and 8.30am of October 10 and escaped with 300 pairs of jean trousers, 200 pairs of cotton trousers and 300 shirts worth Rs2.55 lakh.
A police officer of Varachha police station said they are going through CCTV footages of nearby areas to identify the thieves. He said, “It looks more like an insider’s job because the goods had come from Mumbai just a day ago. More than two persons were involved in the
theft.”
