Maharajan Petchimuthu, the alleged kingpin of a moneylending racket, was yet again let off by a local court on Wednesday after he was arrested by the City police in connection with a case of illegal money lending.
The accused, who was booked under the Money Laundering Act and the Prohibition of Charging Exorbitant Interest Act, is still in police custody and will be produced in court in Ernakulam on Thursday.
Maharajan, who was arrested on September 29, was granted interim bail the next day and on the following day, he was sent to police custody for 10 days. When the police submitted remand request, the court dismissed it.
It was after that the City police arrested him in a separate case.
