Brisbane doctor allegedly took inappropriate pictures of women

A doctor at the Prince Charles Hospital has faced court on Thursday accused of taking inappropriate pictures of women at a Brisbane shopping centre.

Detectives arrested the 44-year-old Eight Mile Plains man on Wednesday afternoon and later charged him with seven counts of observations or recordings in breach of privacy.

It will be alleged the pictures were taken at Garden City Shopping Centre on Brisbane's southside this month.

The doctor will return to the same court on October 31 and faces up to two years' jail for the offences.

A Queensland Health statement said the accused had been suspended after being charged.

"Metro North Hospital and Health Service has moved quickly to suspend a staff member from The Prince Charles Hospital who was charged overnight with a range of offences," it read.

"Chief executive Shaun Drummond has immediately moved to suspend the staff member without pay and further HR action will be taken.

"Metro North’s integrity unit is working closely with Queensland Police Service to facilitate a full and thorough investigation."

Mr Drummond said: "We are a values-based organisation. Behaviour that doesn’t align cannot be tolerated."
