Special allocation of funds for children’s welfare

An action plan lasting for a year has been mooted in the district to prevent the increasing incidence of crimes against children.

The organisations responsible for the protection and welfare of children, particularly the Childline, will be strengthened in the district.

The action plan will be prepared by including children and various bodies involved in the welfare of children.

A meeting held here on Tuesday at District Collector Amit Meena’s chamber decided to provide better awareness about child rights to all stakeholders.

Civic bodies will be asked to make a special allocation of funds for children’s welfare and security. Special care will be taken to safeguard children against the harmful aspects of social media.

Cybel Cell

District Police Superintendent Prateesh Kumar will take the lead to create awareness among students in schools and colleges.

The services of the District Cyber Cell will be made use of.

The potential of traditional means of communication like puppetry will be made use of. Parents, teachers, PTA officials, and students will be involved in the awareness programmes.

UNICEF (United Nations Children's Fund) social policy specialist G. Kumaresan delivered the keynote address.

Childline India Foundation senior programme coordinator Nireesh Antony explained the project.

Childline district coordinator C.P. Saleem presented the action plan. Malappuram Childline director Meena Kuruvila welcomed the gathering. Coordinator Anwar Karakadan proposed a vote of thanks.
