This was the team’s first defeat after three successive wins.

Argentina opened the scoring with a seventh minute goal through Celina Di Santo. India's Mumtaz Khan equalised a minute later but the hosts regained the lead in the 10th minute with a field goal by Sofia Ramallo.

India went into the break level on scores as Reet scored the equaliser just before half-time.

The second period, however, was totally dominated by Argentina as they showcased brilliant attack and scored three back-to-back goals in the 12th, 17th and 19th minutes through Sofia, Josefina Rubenacker and Gianella Palet respectively.

Left bruised by those quick goals, India could not find an answer to their opponents and went out on a wimp.

The Indian team will now face South Africa in their fifth match of the competition on Thursday.
