PANCHKULA: Two men robbed a liquor vend at
Charnia village in
Pinjore of Rs 5,500 and five bottles of
whisky on Tuesday night. With this, three robberies have been committed in and around Pinjore in about a week’s time. Since July, seven such crimes have been committed.
Police are yet to identify the accused and have not ruled out that the robbers could be part of a motorcycle gang which has carried out robberies in the area in recent past. Charnia is located on the Nalagarh-Kalka road and there are many escape routes to neighbouring Himachal Pradesh from here. Liquor vend owner Rakesh Kumar alleged that the robbers reached his vend around 10.30pm on a motorcycle. Though Kumar was also at the vend, the robbers went to a member of his staff directly and drew a pistol at him.
The assailants asked him to take out all the money and give it to them. Kumar said they noted down the registration number of the motorcycle, but could not identify the robbers as they had covered their faces. When they were about to leave with the Rs 5,500 they had robbed from the vend, the accused asked the staff member they had earlier threatened to given five bottles of whisky.
Kumar then phoned the cops. On the basis of the complaint by Kumar, a case under Section 392 (robbery) of the
Indian Penal Code and under the Arms Act was registered at Pinjore police station. When contacted, the investigating officer, sub-inspector Rajesh Kumar, said they were still investigating into the case. This is not the first robbery to have happened in Pinjore in recent past.
