Congressman Joseph Kennedy weighed in on the arrest of Fall River Mayor Jasiel Correia following his arrest Thursday morning.

“These are serious charges for which the Mayor must answer. This is a difficult day for the City of Fall River,” Kennedy told CapeCod.com.

Correia was charged with nine counts of wire fraud and four counts of filing false tax returns.

Kennedy's district includes much of Fall River's North End.
