Stunning Alfa Romeo 6C Vision Gran Turismo Study Will Leave You Drooling

From 1927 to 1954 Alfa Romeo called all its six-cylinder cars 6C and those were some glorious times for the Italian brand.

But could the Alfa Romeo 6C make a comeback? Well, the brand’s moves in recent years seem to suggest that. First, the Italians revived the 8C nameplate with the limited-run 8C Competizione and Spider built between 2007 and 2010. Then, earlier this year the company announced the 8C would make a comeback in 2022 as a mid-engined hybrid supercar.

Considering that Alfa Romeo also invented the 4C lightweight sports car in 2013, the 6C would look like a logical addition to its stable of thoroughbreds. Unfortunately, while there were many rumors over the years about the return of the iconic nameplate, Alfa officials never confirmed them.

The last time Alfa Romeo used “6C” in a sentence was in 2014 when it released preliminary sketches (above) of a virtual concept called 6C Biposto Vision Gran Turismo. Interestingly, the carmaker didn’t follow through on that project and the concept never made it to the Gran Turismo 6 video game.

Well, Italian designer Gaspare Conticelli decided it was time to right that wrong. He set out to design a 6C Vision Gran Turismo study for Alfa Romeo. We don’t know about you, but the speedster looks absolutely breathtaking from where we’re standing. Striking features include the split windshield, transparent engine cover and intricate aerodynamics.

The fact that Mr. Conticelli’s LinkedIn profile says he’s a designer for Alfa Romeo and Maserati gives the project a semi-official status. It certainly looks as if it had Alfa Romeo’s stamp of approval. If we were to speculate, we’d say this is the continuation of Alfa Romeo’s 2014 project. Or at least it should be.
