J. Mohanram, an accused in a triple murder case in Coimbatore in 2015, was on Wednesday remanded in judicial custody till October 17. The police will file an application before the court seeking his custody for further investigation in the case.

A native of Nagal Nagar in Dindigul, Mohanram was arrested by the police on Monday in Mumbai where he had been hiding since 2015. Mohanram was wanted by the Sulur police for the murder of Madhavan (32) of Thanjavur, his relative Thiyagu alias Thiyagarajan (22) and V. Arun (22) near Chinthamanipudur signal on August 26, 2015.

Revenge killing

Mohanram was part of a gang that waylaid the vehicle the three were travelling in along with Lolly Manikandan, the main accused in the murder of advocate Raja of Thiruvidaimarathur on April 3, 2015.

Madhavan, Thiyagu and Arun were escorting Lolly Manikandan to their native place after he was granted bail in the murder case.

The gang first attacked Madhavan, mistaking him for Lolly Manikandan, whom it wanted to kill in retaliation to Raja’s murder. While the gang killed the three, Lolly Manikandan managed to escape.
