In a mark of homage to his late wife, an veteran on Wednesday donated Rs 17 to the school where she taught for 21 years.

Wing (retired) J.P. Baduni handed over the cheque to the Principal of the Golden Jubilee Institute at Subroto Park. He hoped the donation would help the deserving students to excel.

Baduni's wife worked as a primary since 1986. She expired on February 6 due to a cardiac arrest.

School Principal said that a part of the donation, Rs 10 lakh, would be used to award scholarships and prizes to meritorious students of classes 5 to 11 every academic year.

The remaining amount would go towards infrastructure development of the school's primary wing.

The money was exclusively from his wife's savings which she had accumulated over the years from the service rendered at the school.
