Nagpur: Apart from Nishant Aggarwal, a middle officer at BrahMos Aerospace, a senior woman scientist in one of DRDO’s establishments at Kanpur is also under police scanner. Sources involved in Aggarwal’s quizzing at Nagpur said probe began after the first lead came from Kanpur. Among those questioned prior to Aggarwal’s arrest is a senior woman scientist working at a DRDO establishment in Kanpur. The person’s rank is at a fairly senior level in the organization, said sources.
This person has been questioned but not arrested. Aggarwal is the only person to have been arrested so far. He was held on Monday following joint action of the Anti Terrorist Squads (ATS) of UP and Maharashtra and military intelligence at Nagpur.
The sleuths found over 50 persons working in different defence organisations having links with alleged Pakistani Intelligence Operatives (PIO) through Facebook. Not all of them may have shared sensitive data. The senior scientist is among them and is now being questioned.
Meanwhile, Aggarwal was flown to Lucknow from Nagpur by the UP ATS team on Tuesday. He will be produced before a special court at Lucknow. In Nagpur, a magisterial court granted a transit remand to Aggarwal with the UP ATS till October 12. He will have to be produced before a court by that date.
