* Chief minister Naveen Patnaik took stock of the situation and asked district collectors to go for an immediate evacuation of people in the low-laying areas in the coastal belt.
* In Ganjam district, about 1,000 people have been shifted as cyclone 'Titli' is likely to make a landfall at about 5.30 am on Thursday.
* Titli is moving with a speed of about 10 kmph and is likely to make a landfall between Gopalpur in
Odisha and Kalingapatanam in
Andhra Pradesh early Thursday morning with a wind speed of 145 kmph.
* During the next 18 hours, it will intensify further and is likely to move north-northwestwards to cross Odisha and north Andhra Pradesh coast.
* The storm surge of height of about 1 metre above astronomical tide is very likely to inundate the low-lying areas of Ganjam, Khurda and Puri districts.
* Districts like Ganjam, Gajapati, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Khurda, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Jajpur, Bhadrak and Balasore are expected to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall till Thursday.
* It is likely to weaken gradually only after re-curving northeastward to move towards Gangetic
West Bengal.
* Odisha government has set the target for "zero casualties". All districts are on high alert, particularly those in the coastal region.
* The district collectors have been asked to make necessary arrangements to shift people living in low-lying areas.
* Wednesday onwards schools, colleges and Anganwadi centres in Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri and Jagtsinghpur districts will remain closed.
* Around 300 motor boats have been arranged to assist in rescue operation as there is a likelihood of flood situation due to the possibility of heavy rains till October 11.
* All the 879 cyclone and flood shelters have also been kept in a state of preparedness.
* Teams of the
National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the Orissa Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) along with Fire Service personnel have been sent to various districts.
