AFL trade period live: Day three
Crows list manager Justin Reid has spoken to Trade Radio about the deal to get Mitch McGovern to Carlton.
The Crows end up with pick 13, SANFL player Shane McAdam and a future pick.
"It's a great outcome for the footy club," he said.
"To have Shane McAdam as part of that transaction ... is a great outcome for the football club."
"He's had a great year, Shane, at Sturt Football Club.
Reid said McAdam was not unlike McGovern in age, prowess and speed and the Crows expected him to have an impact at AFL level next year.
Reid also said he wanted to manage expectations around trading for higher draft picks, saying the Crows weren't ruling anything out but it was "very rare that high-end picks move".
North Melbourne's football manager Cameron Joyce says the club is delighted to acquire Jarred Polec and Jasper Pittard.
"Jared has been an outstanding player and is coming off a career-best year," Joyce told North Media.
"He will no doubt add a tremendous amount of run and class to our list, playing in the midfield and on a wing.
"Jasper is a highly skilled defender who can do a lot of damage with his rebound and run," Joyce added.
"He is an excellent player to have across half-back.
"We're delighted to have both Jasper and Jared on board and look forward to welcoming them to North in the coming days."
Michael Gleeson had the details on the ramifications of the North-Port deal earlier this morning. In case you missed it:
"The deal means Port have picks 10 and 11 in the draft and secures them an extra pick in next year's draft when they have two potential father-sons coming through - Peter Burgoyne's son Trent, and Mitch Mead, son of Darren.
Port now have a range of clubs approaching them to try and arrange a deal for one of both of those picks. Trading out Pittard, who was contracted for the next two years but on the fringe of their best six defenders, helps Port preserve their under-spend in the salary cap."
The Polec-Pittard deal is through
Jared Polec and Jasper Pittard are officially North Melbourne players.
As reported by Michael Gleeson earlier today, the Roos will get Polec, Pittard and a late Port pick (currently 48) in exchange for North's first pick (currently 11) in this year's draft and a future fourth-round selection.
Cats set to land Rohan
By Peter Ryan
Geelong are expected to secure Sydney Swans speedster Gary Rohan today in exchange for the Cats' pick 61, which they received when they traded small forward Lincoln McCarthy to the Brisbane Lions.
The 27-year-old Rohan has played 106 games with the Swans and although not a high possession winner he applies great pressure and comes with a significant X-factor.
Pies in the box seat, but ...
Collingwood's Tom Langdon is weighing up whether to re-sign with the Magpies or continue his career elsewhere after the Sydney Swans ramped up their interest on Tuesday.
Langdon's manager Scott Lucas said the 24-year-old began to explore his options before the season finished as they awaited a contract offer from the Magpies, which lobbed in the days after the grand final.
"Tom has got something to consider," Lucas told Macquarie Sports Radio on Wednesday.
"The terms are always important and Collingwood have got some challenges around that. That is for them to work through."
McGovern deal confirmed
The deal to get Mitch McGovern to Carlton has been finalised, and as reported last night by Jake Niall, it's a three-way deal between the Blues, Adelaide and Sydney.
The Crows get: Pick 13, SANFL player Shane McAdam (one of Carlton's mature-age pre-draft access picks), and a future fifth round pick from Carlton.
The Blues get: Mitch McGovern and a future third round pick from Adelaide.
The Swans get: Picks No.26 and 28 (from Carlton) and No.40 (from Adelaide).
Pick swap between the Queensland clubs
Brisbane Lions have traded round 2 (24), round 4 (58) and round 5 (79) to the Gold Coast Suns for round 2 (32), round 3 (41), round 3 (44) and round 5 (77).
