Titli: No train movement on Chennai-Howrah line

VISAKHAPATNAM: The railways have made changes in the running times of some trains running on the Chennai-Visakhapatnam-Howrah main railway line from Wednesday night till further notice in view of Cyclone Titli, which is expected to make landfall on the Andhra and Odisha border through which the railway lines pass.
The landfall is forecast to take place on Thursday morning.

While some train services were cancelled, some were rescheduled and diverted between Vizianagaram and Khurda railway stations from Wednesday night.

Train 12704 Secunderabad – Howrah Falaknuma Express scheduled to leave Secunderabad on Wednesday was diverted to run via Kazipet, Balharshah, Nagpur, Bilaspur, Jharsguda, Tatanagar and Kharagpur stations.

The trains that would be diverted via Kharagpur, Rourkela, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Rayagada, Vizianagaram stations include 12504 Agartala-Bangalore leaving Agartala on Tuesday, 22831 Howrah-Prasanti Nilayam leaving Howrah on Wednesday, 12841 Howrah- Chennai Central Coramandal express leaving Howrah on Wednesday, and 12863 Howrah-Yesvantpur Express leaving Howrah on Wednesday.

Trains from Howrah/Kharagpur side will not run in the East Coast Railway (ECoR) jurisdiction from Bhadrak from Wednesday evening while the trains from Hyderabad/Visakhapatnam side will not ply from Visakhapatnam till further advice, railways sources said.

Long-distance trains would be diverted via Nagpur –Balharshah- Vijayawada directions, if feasible, the sources said.

“No movement of passenger trains will take place between Khurda Road and Vizianagaram section from Wednesday till further notice,” a Waltair divisional railway spokesperson said. Helpline numbers 0891-2744619/2746330/2746338 have been put at Visakhapatnam railway station.”
