The killers of Kidari Sarveswara Rao, MLA of Araku, and Siveri Soma, former MLA, will have to face the consequences and cannot escape the long arm of the law, according to State IT and Panchayat Raj Minister Nara Lokesh.
He visited the agency area on Wednesday along with Home Minister and Deputy Chief Minister N. Chinarajappa and Social Welfare Minister N. Anandababu. He reached the area by road from Visakhapatnam.
He said the SIT would conduct a comprehensive probe and follow-up action would be taken. To a question, he said it would not be proper on his part to speculate or make comments on the issue, as the probe was on.
Showering praise on the slain MLA, he said Sarveswara Rao spent all his time in the constituency for the welfare of his people. In the past two-and-a-half years, he got ₹400 crore for the panchayat raj work and had sent proposals for two important roads linking the major villages.
He said losing such a leader was a great blow not only to the people of the agency area but also to the entire State. The ruling party and the government would stand by the family members of the both the leaders, he promised.
Asked if Kidari’s son would be inducted into the Cabinet, he said it was for the Chief Minister to decide.
