Ramanathapuram
Forest personnel have rescued an adult female spotted deer, which was found injured after dogbite at Gangaikondan near Nainarkoil on Tuesday evening.
On being alerted by the local people, Mandapam Forest Range Officer S Sathish, who is in-charge of Ramanathapuram range, accompanied by foresters and anti-poaching watchers rescued the animal.
He said the deer had strayed into the farmlands, looking for water when it was chased and bitten by stray dogs in the area. After offering treatment to the bite injuries with the help of a veterinary surgeon, the forest personnel released it to the forest area near the Thethangal bird sanctuary. They had released the animal into the forest on Tuesday night after treatment and it till it became normal, Mr Sathish said.
