PATNA: Chief minister Nitish Kumar has announced ex gratia payment of Rs2 lakh to the next of kin of the five people from
Bihar who died in the
Farakka Express accident near Rae Bareli in
Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday. He also announced Rs50,000 to each injured passenger from the state.
The deceased from Bihar were identified as Shambhu (25), son of Mohan, Sunita (52), wife of Mohan, Kumari Rita, one-year-old daughter of Mohan, Dinesh (7), son of Rasiklal Manjhi (all from
Munger district) and Ajay Kumar (45), son of Ghutkha Nand Kumar from
Kishanganj.
Nine from Bihar were among the injured passengers. The condition of Anita Devi (25), wife of Radha Mohan, Rinku (20), son of Nadim Sheikh, Rajiv (32), son of Ram Laghu and Sujan (12), son of Ram Bilasi was critical, railways sources said. ECR chief public relations officer Rajesh Kumar said the four seriously injured from Bihar were referred to Lucknow for further treatment.
On CM’s directive, four police officers went to the accident site to bring the bodies of Bihar passengers. They have been asked to provide necessary assistance to the injured passengers from Bihar.
