Thane: Duo hire cab, rob driver at gunpoint, flee with car

Bhayandar: The Thane (rural) police are on the lookout of two unidentified men, who hired a cab posing as passengers from Kashimira to Taloja near Navi Mumbai. The duo threatened the  driver at gun point and robbed him of his cash and mobile phone before fleeing with the car. Following a complaint registered by the cab driver, identified as Nasir Ahmed (31), a case under Section 392 of the IPC was registered at the Kashimira police station against the unidentified miscreants on Monday evening.

Two men in an inebriated state hired the cab from Kashimira to go to Taloja. While one of them boarded the cab, the other followed on a bike. In his statement to the police, Nasir Ahmed said that after crossing the toll plaza, the biker drove ahead and parked his bike on the roadside before getting into the car. As the car neared Taloja village, the duo threatened Nasir with a revolver and snatched his mobile phone and wallet containing Rs 2,800 before pushing him out and driving away the vehicle towards Panvel.
