After petrol and diesel the government has extended the relief to aviation industry today after it revised
excise duty on aviation turbine fuel (
ATF) to 11 per cent from 14 per cent, a reduction by 3 per cent.
The new rates will be effective from
October 11, 2018.
In a move to stabilise the falling rupee and check current account deficit, the government had announced in the last week of September a hike in customs duties on 19 items including
jet fuel.
An excise cut will also help offset a part of the impact of the
customs duty increase, which pushed up jet fuel price by over 7% at the start of October.
