Government cuts excise duty on Aviation Turbine Fuel to 11 per cent from 14 per cent

After petrol and diesel the government has extended the relief to aviation industry today after it revised excise duty on aviation turbine fuel (ATF) to 11 per cent from 14 per cent, a reduction by 3 per cent.

The new rates will be effective from October 11, 2018.

In a move to stabilise the falling rupee and check current account deficit, the government had announced in the last week of September a hike in customs duties on 19 items including jet fuel.

An excise cut will also help offset a part of the impact of the customs duty increase, which pushed up jet fuel price by over 7% at the start of October.
