Kolkata-based food and beverage company Keventers Agro Ltd. (KAL) is looking to boost its dairy business by expanding reach and entering new categories, chairman and managing director Mayank Jalan said.
Eyes 50% contribution
“From a 40% share in our revenues, we are eyeing a 50% contribution from our dairy business in two years,” Mr. Jalan said at a press meet. KAL is engaged in sales of pouched milk and milk products like ice cream and doi (yoghurt), besides marketing branded banana, frozen food and snacks.
Its product basket includes mango pulp, cashews and condiments.Keventers Agro is one of the major franchisees of Parle Agro for its brands like Frooti and Appy Fizz.
It has 11 units across India (own and leased) including some in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. “Currently dairy business has a turnover of ₹400 crore out of KAL’s total turnover of ₹1,000 crore, we plan to double that by 2021 when the overall turnover is projected at ₹1,600 crore,” he said.
New products, rebranding, and entry into neighbouring States like Odisha, Bihar, Jharkhand and the North East form the main tenets of the company’s strategy.
