Doctor commits suicide at Poona Hospital

PUNE: A 63-year-old dentist was found hanging in his cabin at Poona Hospital in Navi Peth on Monday morning. Police suspect that Dr Shashikant Bamb, a resident of Market Yard, allegedly committed suicide due to depression and financial crisis. A suicide note has been found from the spot by police.

According to police, he used to go to the hospital for two hours everyday for checking patients. The incident came to light around 9 am when his cabin door remained closed for a long time and he was not answering to repeated calls. When the hospital authorities entered the cabin, he was found hanging. The Vishrambaug police were informed about the incident.

Police said the deceased is survived by his wife, son and a daughter. He has his own clinic in Nana Peth.
