Boy drowns in River Noyyal

A 13-year-old boy from Kangeyam in Tirupur drowned while taking bath in Noyyal river on Monday.

According to police, the deceased has been identified as S. Abijith, a resident of Marampalayam near Kangeyam. The police said the incident occurred when the Standard VII student of a Government school at Nathakadaiyur had gone to the river with friends. The body was retrieved and shifted to a Government hospital for post-mortem.

Man held for forgery

The Kattoor police arrested K. Thangavel, a resident of Sivanandapuram near Saravanampatti, on charges duping a car dealer. The police said that Thangavel hired a car from T. Vimalraj of Sukkampalayam near Palladam, dealer of used cars, by posing as a vehicle broker.

Though Thangavel had assured to find a buyer, he sold it to a person using a forged transfer of ownership certificate and did not give the money to Vimalraj. The police have recovered the car and forged documents.

Woman electrocuted

S. Chithra (39), a resident of Thensangampalayam near Kottur, was electrocuted while turning off the switch of television at her house on Sunday evening. Though the woman was rushed to the Government Hospital, Kottur, doctors declared her brought dead.
