CHANDIGARH: Former Haryana chief minister
Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Tuesday said that the alliance of INLD and BSP is ‘unnatural’ and would not continue for long.
He, however, said that the Congress does not need any alliance, as the party is capable to form government on its own.
Regarding the reports of rift in the INLD, Hooda said that whatever happened in Gohana rally on Sunday was really “unfortunate”.
Hooda was addressing the media in Chandigarh regarding his meetings with various farmer organisations so that the problems of farmer community can be added in the Congress party’s manifesto for the next parliamentary polls.
Hooda claimed that he has been asked by the Congress party president,
Rahul Gandhi, to talk to
farmers across the country so that their problems can be addressed by including the issue in party’s manifesto. Punjab's finance minister Manpreet Badal is also one of the members of the committee that has been assigned the work to get feedback from the farmers.
The former CM said that after a discussion with the farmers from Punjab and Haryana on Tuesday at sector-35 Kisan Bhawan, some issues have surfaced, which the farmers want to be addressed.
Hooda said that the farmers have been demanding the inclusion of diesel under GST, complete waiver of farm loan, financial assistance for the equipments required to resolve the problem of crop residue, stray cattle management and expansion of
irrigation system. Other suggestions included minimum support price (MSP) of crops as per the recommendations of Swaminathan Committee report and free power and water for irrigation.
Hooda said that now he would visit Aligarh area of Uttar Pradesh to get feedback from the UP farmers.
