There are no universities in the State falling within the ‘A’ plus accreditation of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and among the top 25 in the National Institute Ranking Framework of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Minister for Higher Education K.T. Jaleel has said.
Opening a new academic block at Government College, Kunnamangalam, here on Monday, he said Kerala was far behind in achieving academic excellence in higher education though the State was ahead of others in primary and secondary education sectors. Mr. Jaleel said universities and colleges should develop the idea of studies along with skill development.

The Minister said that public educational institutions should serve as a platform for espousing secular values and communal harmony. He was opening development work at the REC Government Vocational Higher Secondary School, the first to be elevated to global standards in Kunnamangalam Assembly Constituency.
