In a scene straight out of Bollywood movie, two gun-wielding men managed to free their gang member from the police custody at B.K. Hospital on Monday in broad daylight.
A visitor to the hospital was injured after he was hit by the shrapnel even as one of the criminals opened fire aiming at the policeman chasing them.
The CCTV footage of the incident shows two criminals, one of them with his mouth covered, opening fire to scare the visitors as he along with his gang-member Vikas Dalal tried to escape on foot. A policeman could be seen running at some distance behind them with a revolver while the people watched in disbelief. Meanwhile, one of the criminals fled the spot on a motorcycle, the police said. The two criminals, yet to be identified, had come to free Vikas against whom 17 cases of murder, attempt to murder, snatching and causing hurt are registered at Gurugram, Bahadurgarh, Jhajjar, Delhi and Himachal Pradesh, the police said.
Vikas, a member of Manjeet Mahol gang, was transferred to Nimka jail from Tihar Central Jail in Delhi on May 31.
Dental treatment
No case was registered against Vikas in Faridabad, the police said. Vikas along with other inmates had come for dental treatment at the hospital when two of his gang members were already waiting for him.
“When he came out after seeing the doctor around noon, the two opened fire in the air and managed to free him,” said Faridabad Police spokesperson Sube Singh.
Five Crime Branch teams have been constituted under the leadership of Assistant Commissioner of Police Yashpal Khatana to arrest the culprits following directions by Faridabad Police Commissioner Amitabh Singh Dhillon.
The CCTV footage of the incident is being analysed to identify the culprits.
