AGRA: Ahead of its 84th convocation ceremony,
Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar University has compiled a list of students who will be awarded research degrees and medals for their academic performance. Majority of names on the list are of girl students.
The number of
MPhil degrees to be awarded to girls is more than twice as compared to boys. Besides, 86% of medal winners are girls. The convocation ceremony for 2017-18 batch is scheduled for October 29. This year, 219 students will be awarded research degrees. Out of these, 135 are girls and 84 are boys.
According to the university’s list, four senior researchers will be awarded DLitt degrees. Out of 109 PhD degrees to be awarded this year, 60 will be handed over to female students and 49 to male students.
The university will also award 106 MPhil degrees, 75 of which will be given to girls and 31 to boys. This year, however, no one has qualified for DSc (doctor of science) degree.
As compared to last year, the number of research degrees to be awarded this year has decreased by 101. In 2017, 320 students were awarded higher degrees. The varsity administration has also issued a list of meritorious students from different courses who will be awarded medals for the academic performance. In total, 118 medals will be awarded. These include 102 gold and 16 silver medals. 106 out of 118 medal winners are female students.
University chief proctor Manoj Srivastava said, “The list of degrees and medals to be awarded during the convocation ceremony has been made available on our website. Objections regarding names and other details in the list will be entertained till October 15.”
Meanwhile, Vice Chancellor Arvind Kumar Dixit has constituted 23 special committees comprising of officials and teachers to take different responsibilities concerning the convocation ceremony.
Registrar KN Singh has started day-to-day monitoring of tasks assigned to these committees.
This year, Union home minister
Rajnath Singh will be the guest of honour for the convocation.
