The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike, (BBMP) in its drive against illegal hoardings and flexes, has registered a complaint against Water Resources Minister D.K. Shivakumar for not removing two advertisement hoardings near Pantharapalya in spite of the civic body sending notices to take the hoardings down.
A complaint was registered with Byatarayanapura police by Mutturaj, Assistant Revenue Officer, Rajarajeshwari Nagar subdivision, BBMP on September 24.
The complaint stated that the advertisement hoardings, which were the property of the Minister, were not brought down despite the civic body’s directions to have the hoardings removed.
In spite of sending personal notices to the Minister, granting him time till September 6 to take them down, the hoardings were not removed, the official stated in his complaint.
The Minister has been booked under the Karnataka Open Places Disfigurement Act and Karnataka Municipal Corporation Act. The BBMP started its drive against illegal hoardings, buntings and flexes across the city after the Karnataka High Court’s rap, setting the civic body a four-hour deadline on August 1 to remove illegal banners, buntings and flex boards.
The hoardings were removed after the complaint was lodged, Mr. Mutturaj told The Hindu.
