In a resurvey of buildings after the recent collapse of a structure in Keshav Puram, five buildings were found to be unsafe, the North Delhi Municipal Corporation said in a reply to a question raised by Leader of Opposition Anil Lakra.
Following the collapse of a four-storey building in Ashok Vihar on September 26, that led to the death of seven people, the civic body had decided to resurvey all buildings under its jurisdiction within one week. The corporation typically conducts pre-monsoon surveys of buildings. The original survey of the corporation had stated that of 1,17,541 buildings in Keshav Puram, none were dangerous.
The civic body said that a “natural calamity” was the culprit in the incident of collapse.
