GURUGRAM: Power theft in new Gurugram came down significantly in September owing to pleasant weather and increased patrolling by discom DHBVN.
A compared to August when penalty amounting to over Rs 1 crore was imposed, in September, only Rs 59 lakh was imposed as penalty, which is the lowest in this year so far.
The discom filed 107 cases of power theft in the city last month. Officials said a total of 40 cases were reported in the sub-urban division and 67 in
Sohna division and the new Gurugram circle.
This is the lowest amount imposed in 2018. “Theft mostly happens when consumers want to turn ACs and other items on, leading to rise i costs. This September the weather remained mostly pleasant. Also, sustained patrolling by the DHBVN staff helped curb theft,” said KC Aggarwal, superintendent engineer, New Gurugram.
