Inspector General of Police, South Zone, K.P. Shanmuga Rajeswaran, inspected a few spots along the Tamirabharani watercourse on Monday as a few lakh devotees will take holy dip in the river during the Tamirabharani maha pushkaram to be celebrated between October 11 and 22.
After inspecting the bathing ghats at Papanasam, Ambasamudram, Kallidaikurichi Mukkoodal and Thiruppudaimarudhur on Sunday, Mr. Shanmuga Rajeswaran inspected the bathing ghats at Arugankulam and Peratchiamman Temple here on Monday.
Governor Banwarilal Purohit, who is scheduled to participate in the event, comes to Courtallam on Wednesday (October 10), participate in the inaugural function of the maha pushkaram to be held at Papanasam on the next day. After taking holy dip at Papanasam, he is expected to participate in the rituals to be held at ‘Jadayu theertham’ at Arugankulam near here in the evening.
Hence, Mr. Shanmuga Rajeswaran inspected these spots along with Tirunelveli City Police Commissioner Mahender Kumar Rathod and Deputy Commissioners Suguna Singh and Feroze Khan Abdullah.
