Tata has launched a new XM+ variant of the Hexa at Rs 15.27 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). This variant sits just below the top variant and borrows some important creature comforts from the top end XT trim. Available just as a 4X2 manual and with 7 seats, the XM+ gets 16 new features over the XM while still being Rs 1.37 lakh less expensive than the top XT Manual 4X2. Here are the key highlights of the XM+ variant:
Cosmetic
Convenience
If you compare this to the top-spec trim, you still miss out on the stunning 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, premium Benecke-Kaliko upholstery, 10-speaker JBL system (8-speaker in the XM), 6 airbags (2 in the XM), and one-touch down all four windows (only driver in the XM). If you want your Hexa to feel more premium, Tata will install an electric sunroof with a 2-year warranty as a genuine accessory.
Over the XM, you get quite a lot of kit like alloy wheels, soft-touch dashboard, leather-wrapped steering wheel, reverse parking camera, fog lamps, automatic climate control, cruise control, automatic headlamps, rain-sensing wipers and electrically foldable ORVMs. All of this for a premium of about Rs 1.08 lakh.
Apart from the base, all variants of the Hexa are powered by a 2.2-litre VARICOR 400 engine which makes 156PS of peak power and 400Nm of peak torque. Tata has also recently revealed the engine configuration of the upcoming Harrier SUV. It will pack a Fiat-sourced 2.0-litre diesel engine titled 'Kryotec'. It is more or less the same engine as the Multijet 2.0-litre diesel which powers the Jeep Compass in India. We also expect the Compass' 173PS/350Nm to remain close to the Harrier's specs.
If you are looking to buy the Tata Hexa, we advise you wait for the Harrier, which will be launched early next year. If you can't wait, the XM+ is a worthy variant to look at.
