A 36-year-old man was murdered while his 35-year-old wife sustained bullet injuries after an unknown assailants shot at them in Rohini's Bawana industrial area on Saturday night. Police are checking on the CCTV footages of area to identify the accused.
According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Amit Singh, a resident of Pana Mauja, while his injured wife has been identified as Jyoti.
"We received a police control room call at around 8:30 pm informing us about a firing incident on a couple who are roadside vendors. A team reached the spot and rushed the victims to a nearby hospital. Singh was declared brought dead on arrival at MV Hospital Bawana," said Rajneesh Gupta, Deputy Commissioner of Police, (Rohini).
Police said that Jyoti has received a bullet on right side waist and was later referred to Saroj Hospital near Madhuban Chowk in Rohini and is said to be out of danger.
"We have registered a case under section 302 (murder), 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal code and 25 Arms Act against unknown assailants. We have formed two teams who are working on the case. We have got no eyewitness to the case however we are scanning the CCTV footages of the area to ascertain the identity of the accused," said Gupta.
Police said that Jyoti has 2 children, a 16 year old son and a 12 year old daughter from her 1st husband Satpal whom she left 9 yrs ago.
