MUZAFFARPUR: Two unidentified bike-borne criminals looted Rs5.52 lakh from a petrol pump owner near Aima village under the Saraiya police station area in the district around 12.45pm on Monday.
The incident took place when the owner of Dineshwar Service Station, Upendra Kumar Singh, was going on his motorbike to the SBI branch at Saraiya under the same police station area to deposit the cash collected on Sunday and Monday. The masked criminals intercepted him after hitting his motorbike from behind about 3km from his fuel station. They broke open the dickey of his bag and snatched the bag containing cash.
“They had covered their faces with towels and sped away towards Pokhraira village. When I raised an alarm for help, villagers reached and took me to a nearby hospital as I had received injuries,” Singh alleged in his written complaint.
Saraiya SDPO Shankar Kumar Jha said police were trying to identify the gang involved in the loot. “We have got some clues, but cannot disclose as it will hamper the investigation,” he said.
