PUNE: “We must bring ayurveda into the mainstream medical science across the world, creating a healthy India in the near future,” said Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (AYUSH) Minister Shripad Naik on Saturday.

He was talking during the inauguration of the 17th national conference, ‘Synergy 2018,’ of opthamologists and ENT specialists organised by The Association for Shalaki (TAS), Maharashtra, in Pune. The conference witnessed participation of more than 400 doctors from across the nation.

“Indian medicine research is equivalent to the world’s most advanced medical science. This is being proved by students opting for Shalaki in medical education. This is creating a mark of our traditional medical science across the world. Many think that AYUSH is a secondary pathy and have differed opinions about it but we should bring ayurveda to the forefront,” said Naik.

He further added that international medicines are always appreciated.

“The past governments have never promoted our traditional medicines but the current government is promoting it widely and its power can be seen. This pathy has been given great importance in US as well. We must promote and spread this traditional medicinal science across the world. Doctors must have an approach of social work while promoting it,” said Naik.

Dr Suvarna Gulecha, President of the conference, said that the major objective of this conference is to promote latest technologies, organise seminars on new advancements for doctors, showcase new technologies to doctors through videos, provide information about surgeries to graduated students and promote this technology to the needy in society.

An exhibition will be organised showcasing new devices required for diagnosis, devices required for surgeries and health related activities beneficial to the society.
