Firm eyes producing 10,000 machines

Bengaluru-based Bharat Fritz Werner Ltd. (BFW), a machine tools solution provider, is planning to set up two more plants to more than double its production capacity, said a top official.

“Currently, we are producing 3,500 machines per annum and we are nearing our total production capacity,” said Ravi Raghavan, MD, BFW.

“Our vision is to produce 10,000 mother machines in three-to-four years time.”

Expands operations

The company recently expanded its operations by setting up a greenfield project in Hosur, Tamil Nadu.

The company had invested ₹50 crore in the over 60,000-sq.ft. facility.

“As we don’t have the capacity, we stopped accepting export orders for the last eight months.

“We need at least 60 acres to more than double our production capacity. We have to set up at least two more units” he said.

According to him, the Karnataka government had allotted 20 acres in Tumkuru Machine Tools Park to set up a unit.

The unit might become operational by 2020 subject to certain conditions failing which BFW would scout for land in other States, he said.“If nothing happens in the next six-to-eight months, then we have to speed up [work on] our third plant at Tumkuru. The project feasibility report will be ready by March/April 2019,” he said. Last year, the firm clocked a revenue of ₹625 crore and this year, it would touch ₹1,000 crore. It has an order book of about 2,800 machines worth about ₹1,200 crore.

BFW has taken steps to be among the top 20 machine tool solution providers in the world by 2020, he said.Right now, it was ranked 40.
