With the north-east monsoon getting active during the last one week, the Nagapattinam district administration has deployed 455 workers across the district for dengue prevention measures.
District Collector S. Suresh Kumar took part in an awareness campaign at Kariankudi Setti Street in Nagapattinam Municipality on Saturday. Accompanied by Deputy Director of Health Services V. Shanmugasundaram, and other officials, the Collector called upon the public to keep their surroundings clean.
He advised them to remove coconut shells, plastic materials, rubber tyres, broken vessels and other materials to prevent water stagnation during the rainy season.
According to the Health Department records, 19 persons were treated for dengue so far during this year.
The department has deployed 75 sanitary inspectors, and sanitary supervisors in 11 blocks.
