Union Minister of State for Finance and Shipping Pon. Radhakrishnan on Friday directed officials from various departments to ensure speedy completion of the process of land acquisition for the elevated corridor from Chennai Port - Maduravoyal.
Reviewing the progress of the four-lane project, he said that the acquisition and resultant relief and rehabilitation should be completed within the stipulated timeline. Nearly half of the area required for the project has been cleared of encroachments.
The revised detailed project report for the project will be submitted by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) in a couple of days for finalisation. In the fresh proposal, the total length of the project will be 20.3 km and the cross section will be 29 m, said an official release here. The elevated road is a vital connectivity to the port.
