Mamidi Sai Venkata Pallavi, a resident of Kancharapalem has been adjudged the second runner-up in the Miss India World-2018 beauty pageant organised by the Dazzle, in New Delhi recently. She has also been adjudged Miss India World-2018, Andhra Pradesh.
After completing her education at Sri Chaitanya Techno School and Sri Chaitanya Junior College, she did an aviation course at Frankfinn Institute of Air Hostess Training.
A ‘grooming instructor’ at the Aviation Institute of Advanced Technology (AIAT) in the city, she was selected as a cabin crew by the IndiGo recently.
Meanwhile, her colleague at AIAT told her about the beauty pageant being organised by Dazzle and asked her to give it a try.
“Noticing my interest, my mother Bangari Seemaratna encouraged me and I applied for the pageant. My father Srinivasa Rao, who works in a private company, was initially reluctant, but later encouraged me to pursue my dream of foraying into the glamour world,” Ms. Pallavi told The Hindu.
“Though I had no formal training in walking the ramp, I bagged two awards and I attribute my success to my mother. After the competition, I was told that the judges were impressed by my confidence,” she said.
Referring to the glamour world, Ms. Pallavi said: “I have a penchant for the glamour world since my childhood. The cabin crew training is also somehow related to glamour. An air hostess has to keep herself physically fit and maintain the glamour. But I feel beauty pageant is a bigger platform to prove myself.”
Brand ambassador
‘Meanwhile, the Dazzle has appointed Ms. Pallavi as the brand ambassador. “I will be undertaking branding assignments,” she said.
Ms. Pallavi has now set her goal on the ‘Miss Universe’ title.
