The Dalit Sangharsh Samiti Maha Okkuta would stage a demonstration on October 11 in Kalaburagi demanding the government to implement the bill on reservation in promotions for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes employees working in the public sector.
At a press conference here on Monday, Okkuta leaders Malleshi Sajjan and Arjun Bhadre condemned the statement made by Ahimsa State President M. Nagaraj that the quota for SCs/STs was unfair. Mr. Sajjan said that the Bill aims at social justice in society.
He said that Karnataka Extension of Consequential Seniority of Government Servants Promoted on the basis of Reservation Act, 201,7 has got the assent from President Ram Nath Kovind in June.
Though the State government has decided to wait till the October 12 hearing in the Supreme Court in this regard, the government could go ahead and implement the provision of the Act as there was no court stay, Dr.Sajjan added.
