Civic officials have failed to submit administrative and audit reports of at least five years, before the Council. This was written in an internal circular by Deputy Mayor Ramila Umashankar, who died of a cardiac arrest on Friday. She had issued the circular on October 3, pulling up offficials for the delay and directing the BBMP Commissioner to conduct a meeting immediately.
BBMP officials confirmed there was a delay, with reports of several years pending to be submitted to the Council.
A senior official said the annual administrative report has been pending from 2011-12 and the audit reports from 2014-15. “The audit reports have to be submitted to the Accounts Committee by the Chief Auditor. This is pending and to be cleared by the BBMP Council. The administrative report is yet to be compiled after 2011,” he said, adding that some of the delays were caused by heads of various units in the civic body. In other instances, the reports have been been submitted but are yet to cleared by the Council. “We don’t know why some reports have failed to come up at the council meetings, and have been pending for the last eight months,” the official added. Mayor Gangambike Mallikarjun said she would look into the issue.
