NOIDA: After more than three years,
Sector 12 will finally have a functional
community centre. Noida Authority officials from work circles 1 to 5 visited the
sector on Saturday and approved the rebuilding and renovation work of the structure. “Our
community centre was in a completely dilapidated condition and not in use since last two-three years as its building was mostly waterlogged and there was seepage at various places,” said Puneet Shukla, a resident of Sector 12.
In the absence of a community centre, the residents were unable to hold common functions as well as weddings and parties. “The structure was nearly 25 years old and was in need of repair and renovation since long. Now following the visit of Authority officials, we can expect a new structure to be rebuilt up to two floors according to our discussions,” said N P Singh, president, Federation of Noida Residents Welfare Associations (FONRWA).
The building is expected to get completed within nine months. “We have agreed to build a two-storey community
centre in Sector 12. The estimated cost of the construction of the community centre is Rs 2.5 crore and it will take about six-nine months to complete,” said Rajeev Tyagi, general manager, (in-charge of work circles 1 to 5), Noida Authority.
Other issues raised by the residents and addressed by the officials include encroachment at Indira market in Sector 27, setting up of open gym in Sector 27, construction of broken roads, sanitation, poor water quality, parking issues in Sector 11, among others.
