Man held with hormone drugs

LUDHIANA: Khanna police arrested a man after seizing 103 banned vials of oxytocin drug from his possession on Saturday. The accused was identified as Dharminder Yadav, a resident of Kuri Bazar in Gorakhpur district, Uttar Pradesh.

Giving details, SSP, Khanna Dhruv Dahiya, said that as part of special campaign against drug trafficking, a police party had set up a checkpost near a Mall on GT Road in Alour of Khanna for checking suspected vehicles and persons. He added that while checking, police party stopped a person on suspicion and on frisking him recovered 103 banned injections of oxytocin.

Police said the accused was booked under sections 22/61/85 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act at Sadar Khanna police station and was arrested.

Dr Rajiv Gupta, a psychiatrist, said that oxytocin is a hormonal drug used for faster growth in plants and for better milk production in cattle. He added that it brings hormonal changes in persons reflecting badly their on health.
