Delhi: Dog owner kills driver over tempo injuring pet

A 40-year-old man was stabbed to death in front of his family, while his 45-year-old brother sustained stab injuries after they were attacked by three men as deceased's tempo brushed against the accused's dog and injuring it in Uttam Nagar area on Friday night. Police have formed several teams to nab the accused who are on the run.

According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Vijender Rana, a driver of a cargo van, while his injured brother has been identified as Rajesh Rana.

"We received a police control room call at 12.50 am from Mohan Garden area of Uttam Nagar regarding two men have been stabbed. A police team rushed to the spot and the injured were taken to Mata Roop Rani Maggo Hospital where Vijender was declared brought dead and his brother, Rajesh was later referred to DDU hospital," a police officer said.

During the investigation, it came to light that Rana was driving back home when his tempo allegedly brushed the accused's dog which ensued a quarrel between the two parties and the dog's owner got infuriated over the issues and thrashed the driver.

"The accused have been identified as Ankit and Paras and their tenant Dev Chopra who was out for a walk when their pet dog was hit. Rana cried for help and informed his elder brother Rajesh. When Rajesh came forward to help he was attacked with bricks," said Anto Alphonse, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka).

The deceased wife Seema said that the two somehow managed to reach back home and knocked on the door. When she reached down a few men dragged them away on the road where two people caught hold of Rana and one of them stabbed him multiple times. My son and I kept pleading.

"When Rajesh tried to save his brother, he was also stabbed multiple times in stomach and chest. The attackers fled from the spot. No one intervened to help my family and stop the fight. My son called the police for help," said Seema Rana.

A case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against the three at Uttam Nagar police station. Police have formed three teams to nab the accused, meanwhile, Rana's family staged a protest with his bloodstained shirt.
